The political club that affected the Revolution.
The Jacobins is one of the most radical political clubs that France has ever encountered. They strive for change through violence and execution. Influenced and led by the famous writer, Jean-Paul Marat, and Maximilien Robespierre, the Jacobins consisted of men, who were usually political thinkers, that discussed political issues and shared their perspectives of the government. They sought to limit the powers of the government and longed for a republic rather than a constitutional monarchy. Most third estate members were moved and influenced by the Jacobins for their goals. Despite all the negative impact Louis XVI has burdened upon France, the Girondists still went against his execution. However, the event favoured the Jacobins and Louis XVI was executed. After the defeat of the Girondists, the leaders of the Jacobins started the Reign of Terror. The movement was made to go against counter revolutionaries and former Jacobins. Also, during the Reign of Terror, anyone who opposed France or the Revolution, was sentenced to death. After the death of Robespierre, the Jacobins became obsolete and were thanked by the third estate for ensuring the country was a republic.
